WILEY PARK

In collaboration with CRED Consulting

Location: Wiley Park
Client: Canterbury Bankstown Council
Project dates: 2018

Wiley Park represents a major asset within the diverse community of the Canterbury Bankstown Council LGA. The Park, at over 20 acres in size, includes an amphitheatre, play areas, constructed network of ponds and streams and large groves of mature trees. The Park’s sweeping topography helps to orient users away from the busy King Georges Road, and across the Park landscape toward the lower pond.

The project brief was to develop a concept master plan that responded to the needs and desires of the local community and stakeholders, identified through a series of engagement and consultation workshops. Led by Gallagher Studio, the resulting draft master plan responds to the unique site conditions of the Park, recreating the ornamental ponds as a functional system, utilising and enhancing the landform for both active and passive recreation, and working within the existing site structure to minimise disturbance of soil and habitat and retain existing trees.
