2020 AILA NSW Landscape Architecture Award for Research, Policy and Communications

The NSW Department of Education commissioned Gallagher Studio in collaboration with Cred Consulting to undertake a review of contemporary school landscapes within NSW. The aim of the project was to assess the quality and amenity of these landscapes and to identify opportunities to improve educational, social and environmental outcomes. The team developed a unique project approach that not only examined the characteristics of these spaces but captured the daily experience and aspirations of their primary users -school children and teachers. This informed a series of guiding principles as well as detailed recommendations to inform the design of these critical public spaces.
